In the last four weekends, Sean and I have traveled for three of them. The first weekend we got away to see his family in northern New Jersey. There were lots of family in town who we don’t normally get to see so it was a lot of fun. It was a very nice visit filled with lots of food and conversation. (I am horrible and didn’t take any pictures!)
We had one weekend off and then it was off to Lancaster to do some Christmas shopping and what Sean says is going to be an annual trip to the Red Caboose Motel. After our trip last year, we decided that we wanted to get a little bit bigger caboose to stay and boy this one was much larger. We had a full caboose to ourselves!
We also decided that we were going to try to another train ride. This year we couldn’t do the wine and cheese train because they switched it up to fit more with the themed weekend that they were doing. The event was called Steampunk. Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery, especially in a setting inspired by industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century. (Thank you wikipedia for providing a much better definition then I could have provided to my readers!) So the 6pm drink train cars were switched from wine and cheese to drinks featuring absinthe (a licorice flavored grain alcohol) and appetizers.
We tried all of the drinks but let’s just leave it at the fact that we both would have rather had wine!
Our last traveling weekend was to see more family in Virginia Beach, which I talked about here.
I think we are done traveling for a while and we will settle down and enjoy getting ready for the holidays.
Next up is home for Thanksgiving.
This past weekend we had the opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving a little early with part of Sean’s family in Virginia Beach. It has been a while since I have been down there and it was my first visit to their house.
We flew down on Saturday morning and arrived about 11 am. Once there it was off to play basketball with the cousins, walk the dogs, and enjoy the view of the water. Dinner was scheduled to be served about 2pm so food prep wasn’t needed right away. We both really enjoyed the relaxing time hanging out with the kids. Dinner was wonderful and it was awesome to hang out with everyone.
We attended a local event with Sean’s cousins (and left all of the kids at home). Lots of food and drinks!
Sunday was a very relaxing day spent hanging out with a couple of the younger cousins. Followed by a quick lunch and then it was off to fly back home. So much fun!
I only took a couple of pictures while we were there, so here you go!
I will say that I wish I would have gotten a picture of the sunrise out these windows Sunday morning. It was absolutely gorgeous but my phone was not any where close to my bed.
Recently I wanted a small project to work on that didn’t take up too much time. I found a couple of patterns online that I thought would be fun to try but then got thinking about it and how silly it sounded that I wanted to try to make baby doll accessories considering that we don’t have children. I also don’t have friends or cousins that are the right age for some of these things. Sean does have a cousin though that is the correct age and I thought she probably would really like it. So here is what she ended up with and it was all very cute!
This is a baby doll sized snuggler. It opens up and should fit a baby doll up to 15 inches. The pattern that I made for this is at the bottom of the post.
Secondly was a diaper bag. This was actually a lot easier then what I thought it was going to be. I thought that I was going to have a hard time creating this one but did a pretty good job working with it and didn’t have too many problems.
Doll sized diapers and a changing pad.
A hooded towel. This was a fun experiment.
This was a fun project and we were able to give these to Sean’s cousin as we visited them this past weekend. The little one was home sick with Strep (and thank goodness mom and dad decided that they didn’t want to share it!).
A couple of the patterns that I created because I couldn’t find them on Pinterest anywhere.

This past weekend we had friends over to carve some pumpkins. Sean and I try to carve one each year. We started doing this when we were dating and decided that it is a good tradition to continue as we are married. We unfortunately didn’t get too many pictures but we did get a few.
We only got one picture of a finished pumpkin too. I carved Mary Poppins in my pumpkin and now it isn’t standing as nicely as it was the first night we carved them.
Yes our friends decided that it was a great idea to carve the pumpkin with power tools. There was an article written in one of the local papers about carving the pumpkin with different drill bits so they thought it would be fun to try. It was actually really funny to watch them drill through the pumpkin but boy did it make a BIG mess! A great time followed by some really good food as well. I fixed cheesy broccoli soup with fresh broccoli and Sean grilled a pork loin! We also had a candy corn colored cake that our friends brought over! So much fun and a great time having friends over at our house!
